Julius Willis Song of the Week by
The 7 Layer Pimp
Please don't approach Julius Willis about his "urinary problem",
since he is quite sensitive about the subject (so sensitive, he'll
deny that he even has a problem!).
So, in his honor, we present his song of the day, sung by none ofther
than the legndary Thompson Twins......
Doctor!
Doctor!, Can't
you see I'm Burning, Burning....
Rob Hernandez selling his Hub
I'm not sure if any of you would be interested but I'm selling a
12 port 100BaseT network hub for $100. It's practically brand new.
I've only used it a few times since my roommates and I "acquired"
a $2000 network hub shortly after I purchased this one. :) It works
really well and you'll notice the improvement when you transfer
files from one computer to the next. Anyhow, if you (or someone
you know) are interested, let me know.
A Message
From The 7 Layer Pimp...
As being a former tester at 989 Studios, I'd like to personally
congratulate all of the new employees on getting a new perm. I hear
that Super Perm, Ultra Sheen are wonderful, but I prefer the essence
of Love itself, Soul Glow. Be sure to ask Eric "The Sallon" Molina
for more assistance on keeping your perm at its "perm"iest!

Jonathan
Beard's Birthday Today by Julius
Mr. Sheffield of 989 Studios San Diego is celebrating his birthday
today. Make sure you wish him a happy birthday. Also, Ramon Herrera's
Birthday was yesterday and he deserves the same.
From Christian
Davis
Twas the night before Code Release, and all through the game The
Crash bugs were numerous, and the graphics were lame. The testers
were crammed 6 to a cube, in despair, In hopes that the AI, might
spontaneously appear. The producers were nestled, all snug in their
beds, While visions of bonus checks, danced in their heads. When
out on the test floor, there arose such a clatter, I sprang from
my desk, to see what was the matter. And what to my wondering eyes
should appear, But one of the programmers (with a six-pack of beer).
His polo shirt gleamed softly, his dockers were loose, And he'd
just come from a session with the corporate masseuse. "What have
you been doing", I asked him in shock, "Every analog controller
causes the system to lock!" The Gameplay is crappy, the options
disabled, The TRC's all failed, and the controls all mislabeled!
"Dude", he assured me, while chugging his beer, "Don't be a hero,
we'll fix it next year." "Besides I'm off to San Cabo," he said
with a nod, "A company vacation, I did such a good job." So back
to our testing, we all settled in, Loaded up on processed sugar,
and old vivarin. The Producer walked in, at noon the next day, while
his AP strewed rose petals, every foot of his way. He looked not
to the left, nor to the right, Just stepped over the testers, that
had passed out at first light. "Just a second," I said, "before
you can ship, Here is the Bug report, through which you must flip"
Then the Producer sat down with a sigh, For he saw that the Bug
report, was about a foot high. "These are too trivial" he said,
"those can't be fixed, For each of the Once bugs, we'll need 1000
more ticks." "I'll waive all of these, we haven't got time And as
for the rest, they're all By Design." And just when I thought, we
were ready to go, The producer saw something, that made his top
blow. These "gella", these "gil", these "follars", I vow, They must
be all uppercase, it must be done now! And as the producer, walked
out of sight He said "we'll have to re-rev, it'll be back sometime
tonight!"

Core Designer Arrested! by
R. Hernandez and Tgray
Fighting Force and Tomb Raider Designer Faces Charges of Sexual
Misconduct Following the release of Tomb Raider : The Last Revelation
comes a stunning new revelation to game developer Core Design. According
to IGN On-Line, the New York Post is reporting that Kenneth Lockley,
a 28-year-old executive at Core design has been charged with approaching
an undercover officer in order to procure a minor for sex. Lockley
is responsible for working on such games as Fighting Force and the
Tomb Raider Series. The arrest happened in a London hotel after
he asked the undercover officer to find a nine-year-old girl for
himself and an unnamed third person. According to the Post's article,
postings were found on newsgroups which point to Lockley alledgedly
making comments about such acts on the internet in the past. At
this time Core has suspended Lockley while his case is under investigation

Toy Story 2 by Jet-x.com
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - To Disney, the Mexican henchman in the ``Toy
Story 2'' video game was just another funny bad guy lurking in what
is expected to be one of the hottest selling titles of the holidays.
But to many in Los Angeles' large Hispanic community, the villain
-- decked out with a sombrero, thick mustache and bands of bullets
across his chest -- was a blatant stereotype and a slap in the face
to their cultural pride. On Friday, The Walt Disney Co., co-producer
of the popular ''Toy Story'' animated movies with Pixar Animation
Studios, said it would remove the character after angry protesters
demonstrated at the Santa Monica, Calif., headquarters of the game's
publisher, Activision Inc. . ``We regret that part of the game was
offensive,'' said Disney spokeswoman Claudia Peters. ``Unfortunately,
there was a mistake made in its creation. We plan to change the
character.'' The character, which does not appear in the movie,
was one of several enemies that players must shoot to proceed to
higher levels of the game. Peters did not elaborate on how the changes
would be made, but protesters, saying ``racism is not a game'',
charged Disney did not go far enough to address their concerns.
``They did not apologize for the game. We wanted an apology to the
entire community,'' said organizer Oscar de la Torre, a counselor
at Santa Monica High School. ``What they are doing is profiting
off of degrading people. We want an immediate recall.'' With the
``Toy Story 2'' movie earning $117 million in its first two weeks
of release, the video game for the Sony PlayStation and Nintendo
64 formats is expected to be a holiday money maker for Activision.
``The movie is pretty big, and the (original) 'Toy Story' game was
pretty big,'' said Jeremy Schwartz, an analyst with Forrester Research.
``Certainly that's a pretty hot property.'' The game hit shelves
only in late November, so comprehensive sales data are not yet available.
With revenues of $115 million in its second quarter, Activision
is one of the biggest video game makers in the U.S., and publishes
the ``Quake'' series, several ``Star Trek'' titles and classics
such as ``Space Invaders'' and ``Asteroids''. On Thursday, de la
Torre led some 150 protesters, including dozens of high school and
middle school students as well as a California state senator, to
Activision's doors, charging the character was racist and sent a
bad message to children. ``You would think that this stuff would
happen in the '50s, but in 1999, going into the year 2000, racism
is going high-tech,'' de la Torre said. ``This is targeting children.
Children don't have the ability to discriminate or analyze the images
given to them. What do they learn? Shoot the Mexican,'' he said.
De la Torre said he was working on organizing a consumer campaign
aimed at pressuring distributors of the game, including Toys R Us
and Blockbuster Video. ``They'll be hearing from us,'' he vowed.
Shares in Activision had risen 3/8 to 15-1/4 by early afternoon
on the Nasdaq while Pixar was up 1-13/16 to 40-3/8. Disney shares
rose 3/16 to 28-1/16 in trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

Bernie's New Job
Industry: Former Sega of America President and COO, Bernie Stolar,
has landed himself a job with the in-store merchandising designer,
HMG Worldwide. After his time seemed to be cut short at Sega of
America, Stolar has now joined HMG Worldwide's board of directors.
Speaking about the position, Stolar explained, "I'm pleased to join
HMG's board and look forward to contributing to the company's success
in any way that I can. HMG was the in-store agency for both the
launch of PlayStation and Dreamcast and I have had first-hand experience
with the value-added benefits that HMG brings to its clients' projects.
As a member of the Board of Directors, I am eager to contribute
to HMG's continued success." Andrew Wahl, president of HMG Worldwide,
added, "It's a tremendous honor to have someone of Bernie's caliber
join our board. His experience, contacts and influence in the industry
will contribute tremendously to HMG's success."

The Odd Couple
These 2 guys are roommates, but can you guess which one is not straight?
Sometimes these people are referred to as Pirates, Homosexuals,
and also Bleach Blonde Cowboys. Willie can be seen in the yellow

his jaw for the big night. We're not going to give away the answer,
but we're sure you can figure it out.

from fgn Dreamcast:
Sega's Yu Suzuki has dropped the most obvious hint yet that Virtua
Fighter 4 is on its way, and the release date might come as a pleasant
surprise. Yu Suzuki told Japanese interviewers that he's working
on a new fighting title which will have the number 4 in its title.
Hmm -- any ideas as to what he could be referring to? The game will
surprisingly be ready for release before the second chapter of Sega's
upcoming 3D action adventure, Shenmue, the first chapter of which
is set for Japanese Dreamcast release on Dec. 29. Suzuki-san works
at Sega's highly-respected AM2 development studio, and IGNDC reports
that he spoke of his potential Virtua Fighter sequel while discussing
the new realistic facial and body movement technology set to feature
in Shenmue.

The War for Peace is Not Over for Some
Many people are talking about the war that will start at the turn
of the century. These people are considered "mentally unstable"
by others, but Willie Wat of 989 Studios is taking the Y2K war seriously.
He spends all his free time preparing for the apocalypse that he
believes will ignite World War 3. In an interview with Mr. Wat,
he claimed, "I learned of this evil plot when I was abducted
by a UFO." He continues, "TO SERVE MAN: It's a cookbook!!!"

Late Night
with Ryan Eames
Ryan Eames had a great weekend in Los Angeles where he learned the
finer points of getting drunk. He learned that he shouldn't try
to pick up on girls named Dianna when intoxicated. However, it wasn't
all bad as he spent last night talking to her long distance from
midnight to 5 in the morning. This also caused him to be late for
work which is unlike the normal Tom's boy philosphy. Ryan
goes on to mention that he can't buy a computer because he needs
the money to buy all the new J-POP music that comes out and also
all of the anime wall scrolls like the one he picked up in Los Angeles.
Julius Willis' Song of the Week
He's not exactly the most politically correct person.
