Splinter Cell to hit Big Screens

Paramount has bought the film rights to Tom Clancy's video game Splinter Cell for director Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights) to direct, according to Variety.Video game which is in its second edition, follows the adventures of government spy Sam Fisher as he's dispatched to infiltrate an international terrorist syndicate and stop a high-tech threat. Paramount said the movie's aimed at combining the vidgame's blend of stealth action with a "cool" character.

Halo 2 Leaked to Internet from Reuters

SEATTLE (Reuters) - Halo 2, the sequel to Microsoft Corp.'s MSFT.O best-selling game for its Xbox video console, has leaked onto the Internet nearly four weeks before its planned sale, the world's largest software maker said on Friday."Microsoft has learned that a version of 'Halo 2' has been posted to various newsgroups and web sites," Carlos de Leon, Xbox group product manager, said in an e-mailed statement, "We consider downloading this code or making it available for others to download as theft."Microsoft, which is investigating the leak, said that it would stick to its November 9 launch date for Halo 2. America Wins the GOLD! from AP

America's Team3D defeated the Titans of Denmark on Sunday to claim the Gold for the United States of America in Counter-strike.. Team3D consists of Salvatore Garozzo, Johnny Quach, Dave Geffon, Ronald Kim and Kyle Miller. The squad also took home $50,000 for their video game prowess. If they plan to pop a bottle of celebratory champagne, only Geffon is old enough to take a legal sip, as his teammates are all under 21.

TSN COO to Tie the Knot

The Team Sportscast Network has many good things to celebrate, but nothing as significant as their new announcement. After his younger brother had two secret weddings and his best friend, David Lee, wed earlier this year, pressure was on for the Chief Operating Officer of TSN, Hunter Luisi, to "pop" the question to long time love interest Connie Booth of SCEA. Earlier this month, the reluctant Hunter finally gave in and the announcement has been made. The wedding will take place in mid-November of this year about a week after Connie's Birthday and a week earlier than Hunters. Friends at the press conference were overheard saying, "It's about damn time."

Miki Higuchi Gallery in San Francisco

Miki Higuchi of Mattel Interactive fame will be in a group gallery show in San Francisco starting on September 14th. It lasts from the 14th to the 25th with tons and tons of varying events from 2D art, installations to musicans, etc. Kearny Street Workshop runs a pretty cool game. I was part of their show last year so I highly recommend visiting just to check out the fun. For more information click here.

Video game publisher Acclaim Entertainment (AKLM), which has been hampered by a lack of hit titles, filed for bankruptcy liquidation Thursday after failing to line up new financing. Acclaim, one of the oldest brands in the industry, has been known as much for failures like Turok: Evolution and controversial titles like BMX XXX as it has for its successes in the highly competitive industry. It filed for bankruptcy to liquidate its assets under Chapter 7 of U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
