Julius Willis Reviews X-Men the Movie
I've X-amined the X-men movie about three times now and feel I can
give it an unbiased review. There were bad parts about the movie
but all in all, it was entertaining and will probably spawn a sequel.
To illustrate my review, here is a top ten format for my findings.
(there are some "spoilers" in this review so if you haven't watched
the movie yet, you may not want to read this) The Top Ten Reasons
Why I Liked the X-men Movie...
10 Hugh Jackman does a great gob as a rough and tough, wise-cracking
Canadian mutie looking for his forgotten past. His introduction,
uncomfortable due to shirtlessness, was to the point and enjoyable...
Wolverine gets better as the movie rolls. Definitely gets the award
for "best lines". Unlike the part of Storm, Wolverine was alive
and eXpressive; ready for and wanting a fight. Good job, Jackman.
(salute)
09 The special effects were done well. Cyclops seems less wimpy
and anal when we see him tear through ceilings, steel doors, and
green, suffocating goo. Girls and gays may consider him cute, but
i don't that much. (that last comment had nothing to do with special
effects, but there it is) There was good jelly fish effects. Weather
effects. Magnetic power effects. There's cool, i-wish-i-had-that
white and yellow eyes effects. There high jumping hoo ha and morphing
effects. Now, there was also a bad mutant radiation going on around
a spinning mini-"Contact" reminding looking thing effect, but it's
almost forgivable because it led to an always appreciated weary-old-man
effect. Then there's a creepy stalkish ice-sculpting as a gift effect,
but!!! as an effect it was nice.
08 The X-men reparte was nice. It's not up there with "Pulp fiction"
or "My dinner with Andre", but it made the characters less stiff
than in the comicbooks. Nobody said "dolt" or laughed deep and hard
and long... um... and it felt like there were tangible relationships
between the characters... except for Storm, who had no soul. Yoda
watched it and said, "No wrinkles leads to no facial eXpressions.
No facial eXpressions leads to no acting. No acting turns to review
anger. Review anger turns to review hate..." and so on. The eXtras
in the movie were lacking in development. Even as an eXtra, a New
York City policeman would know how to move a little out of the suspended
bullet's way instead of whimpering. That was as silly as not having
one or all of them skidaddle in fright. Not even a billy club was
thrown. Another detail overlook was the lack of caterers and news
crews at the U.N. summit on Ellis Island.
07 Patrick Stewart. Patrick Stewart can go into any movie as himself
and it would be an accepted and loved appearance. There should be
a Patrick_Stewart_Cam site on the net. I'll name all my kids Patrick
Stewart. Pat, stew, rick, art, straw, warts, wet, trick, crate,
wait, raw, cries, and trap are some of the words you can make from
the name "Patrick Stewart". No movie should be made without Mr.
Stewart from now on.
06 Anna Paquin is a cutie Brit who plays a mutie southerner and
that's seXy on top of seXy with a side of seXy... to use one of
Devlin's apraisals. Milk and cookies that chickeedee. Plus, you
can't touch her!?! Yow!!! SeXy rating: Double Joy Plus.
05 People floating. Storm and Magneto did most of the floating scenes.
The act of floating has something inherently sophisticated about
it. There's walking on all fours, there's walking like Kate Moss,
then there's floating into a room. It's the next step in travel,
no pun intended. Aslo, anger seems magnified when lensed over with
floating, i notice. If i saw anyone floating around in the building,
i would applaud nervously and leave. Floating should be in all movies.
04 Rebecca ecca ecca Romjin omjin omjin Stamos amos amos is is is
cool ool ool. The attitude of a stripper, the attributes of a capcom
fighter, and the virtual closet of a shape shifter. Yum. The perfect
escort. She has a cat walk and diplomacy skills. Forget that college
degree, do your folks proud and take her home to meet them. If she
hisses like a Klingon, she's a keeper.
03 The fight scenes. They were for the most part good. There's fast
kung fu like action. There's brawls. There's gorwling and snarling
and sniffing and tonguing. There's tree snapping. There's quartz
beams. There are lightning and taking-over-your-body attacks. Car
lifting and car dropping. Then there's an oops, bad dream attack.
And, there is even chess moves. But there should've been more fighting
and less effects. Logan should've been pummelled by Mystique and
Sabretooth... or at least he should've engaged with Sabretooth for
a lengthier more brutal time. Jean Grey should've done more, too.
She can create force fields, attack psionically, and connect all
X-men thoughts like AT&T on steroids. Then there's Storm's too little-too
late fits of anger. Anti-climactic when all her goddess power focuses
on Toad... not Magneto. No snowstorms. No indoor clouds. No Twisters.
It took the Deathstar in Star Wars less time to power up than it
did for her to damage federal property. Carrie would've kicked her
ass. Get Phoenix and Storm outta there and let's see Carrie on a
bad trip lay waste to The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. One more
thing about X-men fighting... first few rounds they lose, then they
use team work and win big. They either switch enemies with Cyclops,
always aware of the big picture, calling the shots, and Ororo as
back up leader with strategy suggestions. The team work should've
had the feel of a fastbreak; the ball with the X-men. Come on, Singer,
read the comic.
02 The art of the movie. Cinematography and direction of what is
there is good. Aside from the story, effects and action, it's a
pretty view. From the monochromatic scenes of Poland to the colorful
scenes in Xavier's school, the moving camera doesn't fail to go
where you'd want it to look. Nice job for a guy who doesn't read
comic books. ...and the number 1 reason why i liked the X-men movie...
01 The X-men movie is about super heroes.

Ron Allen and his Viper
Pictures of Ron Allen's Viper can be found at the magnificent website
called cornfish.com. It's been a long time in the making and many
people hoped that he would pick the viper over the corvette. After
all, what's a few bucks to this guy? What is most confusing is the
color it is since we know he works for darren. Check out his site
for more pictures.

the core/mem clocks. That's why you can't change these clock settings
and the util still is beta. If you can help the author with this
problem then e-mail him. New in this version · Added option to download

Happy Birthday
to the Good Son
Everyone knows the J. Willis SR. is often disappointed by one of
his sons known as JR. However, what everyone doesn't know is that
this disease does not run in the family. John, who's birthday is
today, sunday, june 18, is shown above with his son Nicholas and
his wife, Sheila Willis. If you only knew Julius, you would never
believe there could be any relations between the 2 brothers. Anyways,
Happy Birthday to John Willis from Julius Willis and thegamelord.com

Farewell then, SNK of America.
from
fgnonline.com
The Neo Geo Pocket Color is disappearing from shelves as we speak,
but it's not as bad as it could be. The arcade arm remains intact,
and we'll still get Capcom vs SNK... Apple Systems is the exclusive
distributor of SNK's arcade systems in America, an arrangement which,
according to GameFan, will be unaffected by SNK's U.S. pullout.
"We've heard nothing that would affect us, and it wouldn't be common
sense nor prudent business logic to halt any of our very successful
arcade games," Tim Jackson, Director of Sales for Apple Systems
told GameFan. Jackson also anticipates that half a dozen more titles
will be released on the long-lived Neo Geo arcade hardware by the
beginning of 2001. In addition you'll definitely be seeing Capcom
vs SNK, as Capcom will be bringing that DC nugget to stores. Whether
the publisher will also pick up licences for games such as Cool
Cool Toon and King of Fighters, as some sites are hinting it will,
is yet to be confirmed.

The Last of the Famous International Playboys
thegamelord.com
is proud to announce the departure of Peter Clark from
SCEA production. He is one of the last of the original AP's hired
over 4 years ago in the beginning of SISA which turned into 989
Studios which turned itself back into SCEA. In his reign at Sony,
he produced such titles as Medievil 2, Wild Arms 2, Speed Punks,
Hot Shots Golf! 2, Tomba! 2, and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
for PlayStation. Peter Clark is one of the only true friends of
The Game Lord and is much respected by this website. Last Friday,
Peter Clark, known to his friends as "Swee' PT" gave his
2 weeks notice. Although we believe he undersold himself and was
worth at least a VP position, he has decided to leave SCEA to become
Director of Production at Secret Level, Inc. Ami Blaire, Darren
Yager, Misa Usui and Taku were not available for comment but we
wish him the best of luck in the future and hopes that he stays
in contact with us.

Barry "Baz" Pringle Buys the House
In the tradition of Joe Brisbois and his wife Megan, Baz, the developer
of bazpringle.com, and his wife, Yen Pringle have bought the House.
This is a spacious house in the Mission Elajo area and drop by unexpected
because he likes that. Also, remember to tell Baz that Fight Club
isn't a violent movie because Baz's wife, Yen loves the violent
movies. Actually, Baz and Yen don't have much time for movies as
they know the most important thing is to buy new curtains and other
needed appliances.
