Tony Van Joins Ubisoft

The legendary Tony Van, friend to Gary Barth and Kelly Flock has joined
the forces of Ubisoft. Tony is a master of game design and has accepted
a job as Senior Producer. He will join the great Dexter Cho and Randy
Gordon in his new endeavor. In his press conference, Tony thanks the crowd
for all the great leads and support. He goes on to say that he will never
give up his dream of making a respectable Survivor (or other reality-based
game show) for the PC.
Star Wars - Episode 2 - Attack of the
Clones

Featuring one of the most protested names of all time, Attack of the Clones
hits theatres today. Many fans believe that Lucas named the movies this
in a sort of "retaliation" against many rip-off star wars movies
that appeared. In truth, George Lucas had merely wanted to keep in the
tradition of his somewhat "campy" titles and cheesy storylines.

The Empire Slices Back

Although speculated by the public for months, Xbox drops its price to
meet the PS2 $199 price tag. This doesn't come as a surprise to many as
Xbox sales have been lackluster and many early forecasts suggested Microsoft
will drop prices to compete in foreign markets. More...

The $100 price drop, to be announced at Sony's investors' conference in
Japan, is sure to send shivers down the backs of Microsoft and Nintendo
(news - web sites). The PlayStation 2, which plays DVD's as well as games,
will sell for $199 the same price as Nintendo's GameCube, which does not
play DVD's, and $100 less than Microsoft's Xbox (news - web sites). Sony
probably has some other tricks up it's sleeve but we will find out at
E3 next week. More......
Nintendo reveals online plans

The company announced that it will begin selling a network adapter for
broadband Internet connections and a modem for dial-up connections--both
priced at $35--starting this fall. The first games to take advantage of
online GameCube play will be two new versions of Sega's "Phantasy
Star Online," the first major console game to offer online play,
through Sega's now-defunct Dreamcast (news - web sites) console. GameCube
versions of "Phantasy Star Online I" and "Phantasy Star
Online II" are set to be available this fall. The service will work
with most ISP (Internet service provider) connections. More....
Infogrames and Shiny

Interplay Entertainment Corp. (Nasdaq: IPLY - news) announced today it
has reached an agreement with Infogrames, Inc. (Nasdaq: IFGM - news) for
the sale of its Shiny Entertainment subsidiary. Upon the closing of the
transaction, which is subject to customary conditions including receipt
of certain third party consents, Infogrames will pay Interplay approximately
$47.2 million for Shiny Entertainment in a combination of cash and a promissory
note.Through this acquisition, Infogrames, Inc. will have exclusive worldwide
rights to develop and publish games based on sequels to the highly acclaimed,
Academy Award-winning action thriller, ``THE MATRIX.'' The games will
be based on the upcoming sequels ``THE MATRIX RELOADED'' and ``THE MATRIX
REVOLUTIONS'' from Warner Bros. Pictures.

Chuck Kroegel joins Strategy First

Friend to industry giants as Sam Clifford, Chuck Kroegel is a legend and
veteran. Strategy First is pleased to announce that Chuck Kroegel has
joined the company as Vice President - Product Development. Chuck will
lead the companys internal development team, as well as contribute
to the companys third party publishing division. He will also be
influential in the Companys initiatives to become a leader in the
worldwide market.

Activision, Inc. reported their financial results for fiscal
2002. Net income for the year ended March 31, 2002 was $52.2 million,
compared to $20.5 million in the same period the prior year. For the fourth
quarter (ended March 31, 2002), Activision reported net income of $10.9
million, compared to $875,000 in the same quarter last year. Activision
is so enthusiastic about their performance that they upped their guidance
on earnings. Spider-Man has already shipped 1.5 million units, and the
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise was the "single largest independent
video game franchise in dollars for the fiscal year." Jedi Knight
II: Jedi Outcast has been performing very well, and Return to Castle Wolfenstein
sales are reportedly still strong.
