What did you say?
We all communicate differently -
especially among the cast of my many zany characters.
On
occasion, Pisser likes to continue a conversation 10 minutes, 20
minutes, even hours after said conversation is over. It all began
during our trip to our hockey game. Krazy Karl asked Pisser to drive
us because KK is taking painkillers. So we go play our game. (It's
a spectacular game by the way. It has been a long long time since
we have been the butt kickers instead of being the butt kickees.)
On the trip home, we spend many a minute recounting all the glorious
highlights. Finally we are done and silence fills the car. Then,
out of the blue, Pisser says "Karl, what's wrong with you?"
KK ponders the few possible answers to this odd question. Finally
KK decides Pisser is trying to make a joke so KK takes the straight
man approach and replies "I don't know Pisser, what's wrong
with me?" This just confuses Pisser as his real question included
the subtext, 'Why are you taking painkillers?' That's where I step
in. As the resident interpreter I am often called in to solve breakdowns
in communication.
Bunny,
on the other hand, takes everything extremely literally. (Before
we make fun of her, we do want to thank her for having dinner and
a movie night on Saturday night as our usual Lan Gaming was not
scheduled to take place, and we want to thank her for the funniest
moment of the night.) During dinner we were discussing the various
whereabouts of our missing friends. The Graduate never joins us
for dinner, he's with his wife and kids. Superstar was going out
to dinner and a movie with her current Robert. Krazy Karl was nowhere
to be found. And of course Hyperbole (pronounced HY-per-bowl-ee,
trust me it's funnier this way) was off in Seattle. Then there's
BadKitty.
The Chad wondered, "Where's BadKitty?"
"She's out tutoring," replied Bunny.
"Oh? What is she tutoring?" asked The Chad.
Bunny pauses, then she says, "A person."
"I asked for that, didn't I?" answered The Chad.
At which point we all had a good laugh.
Ahh, just another day in the neighborhood.
