The Shortest Pass Ever
Our game on Tuesday night was another one of Slow Motion's
finest. A 1-0 affair featuring outstanding defense and
spectacular goalie gymnastics. The lone goal scored was
a thing of beauty.
The play started in our defensive end. The puck was bouncing all over our
zone. I was coming out of the left corner as the puck ended up going once
again to the slot. bunny's fan was already there and he was looking to clear
the puck but he wanted to put it somewhere smart. One of their skaters
was coming in from the left point. He was almost to the puck, so bunny's fan
knocked the biscuit over to me on the left. The puck bounced and hopped
and narrowly avoided the enemy player and it barely crossed the one foot of distance
separating me from bunny's fan. I picked it up and turned on the jets. I
left the enemy player in the dust and brought the puck up the left hand side. I
made my typical cut to the middle and fired a shot on net. Tim got the
rebound behind the net and put it back into the middle. bunny's fan came
out of nowhere and buried the shot for the game winning goal.
Now a game would not be complete if other members of our team did not try and
duplicate such an incredible play. Later in the second period our team
was lining up for a face-off at the left hand circle in the other team's end. Bruno
was at the left point, and IceCapades was at the right point. It was a
beautiful face off win with the puck going straight back to Bruno. He wound
up for a huge slapshot. Unfortunately just as he was about to make contact,
Ice came over to pass it closer to Bruno who was by now 6 inches away from the
puck. Needless to say Bruno didn't get his slapshot off, he and Ice ran
into each other, and it was a breakaway to our goal. Fortunately Steve
came through and stopped the shot thus preserving our 1-0 victory.
