Same
Stuff, Different Day |
Last week we had 7 players for hockey.
This week we had 7 players for hockey. Last week we had Dave, Billy,
and John. This week we had Kelly, Frank, and Eric. Last week our
rotation was good, you were on and off the ice regularly. This week
the rotation was slower. What happened?
The
main difference was felt by the offense. It seemed like they were
waiting and waiting for their chance to play. The explanation theory
that I agree with is that last week Billy and John are good skaters
and they were skating all over the place, which was great because
with only 3 defense we needed the help. Well, they would skate a
lot, get tired, and then they would change. This week our people
did not skate as well. They would skate and skate, but they skated
so slow that they wouldn't get tired, and it took a while for them
to come off.
Nevertheless, last week we lost 1-3, this week we
tied 1-1. The main difference was personnel. Ours was not as good
this week, and neither was theirs. But the play of the game is what
really sealed the deal. (Note: after the game when we were discussing
various highlights and lowlights, Jen expressly gave me permission
to write about the Play of the Game.)
We
had the puck in their zone. Brian brought it in, took a shot, and
then picked up the rebound behind the net. Our O was clogging up
the middle, so that left me in the open at the point. I called for
the puck and Brian passed it over. I took a high wrist shot which
I banked off one of their players and into the net. It was frickin
beautiful.
